Using Twitter and Facebook to Boost Traffic

June 20, 2012 by Maggie 1 Comment

If you write a blog or own an online shop, Twitter and Facebook are your best friends. As the world has become increasingly more social, it’s made it easier for business owners to reach their customers right from their computers. That’s why Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and all the other popular social media tools can be so integral to the success and growth of a small business. Building a presence on either platform can be tough, really tough, but it’s definitely worth the effort to start building a community. Posting new products or new blog posts up on your social media accounts will greatly increase the number of people that view them, even if your following is small. We all want more views to our blogs and sites since views can translate into sales!

There are many ways that Facebook and Twitter can be useful tools for growing your business besides just their capability to be wonderful promotional tools. Building a community on social media means building a community around your brand and yes, you are a brand no matter how big or small your craft business or blog.

Give just a taste.

Make a game of it.

I have been using Facebook for several years now, but when I lost my job in the corporate world last year and had to re-invent myself as a potter, I turned to Facebook and Pinterest as truly marketing my work online. Just yesterday, I discovered an Etsy Facebook page that apparently has the page set so that if I put an item on my Laughing Orange Studio Facebook page, Etsy’s Facebook page picks up that link and posts it to their page as well. I noticed this and am now going to really make sure that I post often so that community will see more of my work.
