So what exactly are “Featured Listings” in your Etsy shop and what do they do? They are the four listings near the top of a shop’s homepage. In addition to giving your online store a bit of color and excitement, these featured listings are also a wonderful (and free) promotional tool!
Here are four awesome things featured listings can do for you!
1. Showcase Expiring Listings
When you have listings that are about to expire and you don’t plan to re-list them, featured listings are a great way to highlight them one last time. Seeing the picture on your main shop page might just inspire a shopper to purchase that item!
2. Highlight an Upcoming Holiday
Featured listings are perfect for displaying holiday or seasonal listings. For example: show off your Valentine’s Day and Easter listings in the upcoming months, and keep rotating the starred items so more listings are seen by visitors. Choosing your Featured Listings by color and theme can even allow you to mix in less “holiday-specific” items.
3. Spotlight New Items
Why not use this section for highlighting a new product range? Displaying fresh listings is easy and effective! Detail shots look especially wonderful in the Featured spots.
4. Promote a Sale
Another way to utilize Featured Listings is by promoting a sale. If you have a sale or Free Shipping announced in your item title, it’s more likely to be seen at the top of your shop in the Featured area. Or you can put “clearance” items in the starred spots with the hope they catch someone’s eye and sell!
A Last Bit of Advice…
You can select the listings you want to feature by clicking on the little grey star next to an “Active” listing in your “Currently for Sale” items. The star will become green when an item is selected. Re-arrange and delete starred listings under the “Featured” tab in Your “Listings” area (next to “Inactive,” “Expired,” etc.). When a Featured item sells, it is replaced with the next starred item, or a blank space if no extra listing is selected. I change my Featured Listings almost every day to keep things fresh in my shop.
