Start Your Creative Business in 2013 – Dream BIG

December 20, 2012 by Maggie

This is the fifth post in my series on things to consider  before you launch a creative business. Questions to ask yourself, problems to solve ahead of time and things to consider so that you have all of the information at your fingertips to launch your creative  business.

In order to have any kind of success you need to dream big. Every success story you’ve ever read or heard about started with big dreams. Think of all of the stories you’ve heard about people who started companies in their garages and ended up with multimillion dollar companies.

I live very close to a company that sells performance auto parts. It literally started in some guys’ garage and is now a HUGE powerhouse in the performance parts business with several locations and specialty divisions. Their website now boasts this statement  “see how a small side business turned into the largest mail order, retail, and Internet supplier of high performance automotive parts and accessories”.

Dream big.

Being a big dreamer doesn’t mean that you walk around with your head in the clouds. It simply means that you’re seeking a direction for your life or business. It means you have faith in a positive outcome. It simply means that you want more for your life.

Your dreams won’t stay dreams forever as they have a real possibility of coming true. And here is a BONUS… if you’re a big dreamer, you’ll achieve big dreams. Don’t settle on small dreams when you can be achieving bigger things.

But why should you dream big?

It’s important to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. If you start a small business and have no dreams of growing it then what is the point of working at it day after day?

Dreams give you a direction. How much money do you want to earn? What kind of house do you want to live in? Just how much do you want to accomplish with your new creative business?

Fulfilling your dreams and making them come true makes you feel more confident and gives us hope of achieving even more. Just imagine the excitement you’ll feel the minute you realize you made one of your dreams come true? Even if it is a baby dream. A beginner dream. If you can make that first dream come true then it’s entirely possible that some of the REALLY BIG ones could come true too.

How do I dream BIG?

Have a little faith. Successful entrepreneurs possess an attitude of openness and faith that they can have what they want if they simply envision it. It may sound hokey and simplistic but it’s true. Be open to the idea of your dream coming true and have faith that at some point, in some way, it will happen.

Envision the future down to the smallest detail, and work every day to make reality match the vision. Actively visualize the dream down to the smallest detail. Imagine you can feel it, smell it, and touch it. Use all of your senses while visualizing your dream.  Visualize the dream as often as you can.

Dreaming big opens doors. It opens your mind to possibilities, adventure and situations you  might never find yourself in without big dreams.

When you dream big, you’ll achieve great things. You may even end up achieving more than you ever thought you could.

What are your big dreams?
