5 Quick Tips to Improve Your Blog Traffic

October 8, 2013 by CreativeIncome

It’s no secret that successful blogs have a high number of daily visitors. While there are lots of different things you can do to boost your blog traffic, here are some of the quicker tips you can use for your blog.

Update Your Blog Design

While you don’t have to redesign your entire blog, you do want to make sure your site is easy to navigate. For example, it may help for you to create a tab that will house your projects, tutorials, or products so your blog followers can easily find what they’re looking for. You should also make sure your contact information and social media links are easy to find.

Encourage Visitors to Come Back

According to Heidi Cohen, around 3 out of every 4 blog post visitors are new visitors. Converting new visitors into repeat visitors is a sure way to improve your blog traffic. In order to get loyal returning readers, you may want to consider creating a newsletter for your readers or encouraging people to subscribe more frequently in your blog posts. You can also run giveaways on your blog that encourage visitors to check back every day.

Boost Your Writing Skills

You don’t have to be an award-winning novelist to write a good blog post, but you want to make sure you write meaningful and relevant content to keep your visitors interested. Remember, interested readers will come back to visit your site. An even simpler step to boosting your writing is proofreading. Blog posts that appear to be well thought-out are more likely to maintain your following than a haphazard and aimless rush of sentences.

Improve Your Blog’s SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and it’s something that bloggers with high visitor traffic know how to command. One way to improve your blog is to give your posts relevant titles. For example, if you’re writing a post about your new sewing pattern, but you call your blog post something completely unrelated like “Starting my day with a brand new cereal!” your post won’t get as much attention. Not only will a search engine be less likely to find your new sewing pattern, but you may turn away a visitor to your blog who was looking for a new sewing pattern.

Adding links to your blog posts will also help improve your site traffic. Search engines notice when blog posts link to relevant content, and of course, your fellow bloggers will notice as well. You can also submit your blog to search engines to put your blog on the radar.

Network!

Guest posts are an easy way to get site traffic and build blogger relationships all in one step. If you have someone write a post for your blog, they’re likely to promote and link to that post on their own site. Thus, anyone who visits your guest blogger’s site will probably follow the link through to your blog.

Additionally, interacting with other bloggers can help boost your site traffic. If you find a blogger with similar content to yours and leave a compelling comment on their site, chances are that visitors to that particular site may click through to your blog. You can also utilize social media to encourage blogger relationships.
