When I attended the SNAP Conference not too long ago, I got the chance to learn all about mobile phone photography and check out products and trends that everyone is talking about. But I also got the chance to chat with a ton of savvy bloggers.
Kate and Sara from Our Best Bites gave an amazing talk called “How to Grow Your Blog While Saving Your Sanity,” and we just had to share our notes with you. Here are the top three tips from Kate and Sara:
Find Your Balance
While blogging is one of the best jobs you can possibly have, it can sometimes feel like there’s no quitting time. Sure, you can set your own schedule. But the online world is 24/7, so it’s easy to feel like you can’t possibly leave your pursuits alone and take a break. To avoid feeling burned out, it’s important to shut off once and a while! Take a break. Balancing work and your life will help make the tough days of running your own blog not so tough.
Make Your Mark on Social Media
Putting yourself on every social media platform isn’t a bad idea, but it’s important to recognize where you are at your strongest. Take a look at the posts that work the best for you and select 2-3 platforms that benefit you the most. You can still be present on other social media outlets, but perfecting your posts on your most significant accounts will save you the stress of trying to be the master of every social media platform.
Don’t Be a Crowd Pleaser
Be OK with the fact that you can’t take on everything and please everyone. There will always be people who won’t agree with the things you do. There will always be new opportunities that come along, so it’s important to take a critical look at everything that comes your way. Is an opportunity worthwhile when you look at how much time and stress it will cost you? If the answer is no, you can always come back to it later when your circumstances are different. When you get overwhelmed, just remember this: no matter what happens, things will always come around.
