Crop for a Cause Charity and Scrapbooking Giveaway

April 25, 2013 by Maggie 101 Comments

We wanted to take a little time out  to talk to you today about Crop for a Cause, a local MS charity here in Illinois that holds a yearly scrapbooking crop to help raise money to fun MS research.

FINAL CFACMMSAM logo

One of our very own attended these every year and every year she tells us that it’s a blast! Not only are you helping a charity but you get to spend the whole day crafting with other crafty ladies. That sounds like a wonderful and relaxing day to me.

Crop for a Cause also always gets a lot of company sponsors to help raise money, bring in crafters, and give all the participants a little goodie bag when they leave.  For only $35 per person, that’s an amazing way to help contribute to this very serious disease.

Because they people at Crop for a Cause are wonderful and generous, they donated one of their goodie bags from this year’s crop for us to giveaway to one lucky winner on Creative Income! The giant goodie bag includes craft supplies from brands like BoBunny, The Paper Studio, and My Mind’s Eye!

I support the Dystonia Research Foundation. I was diagnosed with Dystonia from a brain injury I acquired from a doctor during a procedure he did incorrectly. That was not even the worst part, the worst part was not getting help and a correct diagnosis from many doctors in our own area. So spreading the information will help others from going through the humiliation I went through and receive an adequate diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.

I am currently working on a charity where local establishments can collect money to go towards certificates for food and drinks in their establishments which in turn go to our local homeless shelters and they will hand out these certificates so that a person can go in and order a coffee or a food item. Whatever that certificate is good for. It is my version of the, “Suspend” program that other cities have in which someone can order an item and place it on suspend. Then someone who is in need can come in an claim that item and have something in their system. in the winter it ables them to get out of the cold for a period of time. Currently I have a small group started on F.B. Called The Marquette Michigan Suspend Program.

My favorite is the charity my family started this year. It is called “Cutting for a Cause”. My 31 yr old son is a two time cancer survivor. He is the first in line to have his head shaved (now that its grown back). We had a bake sale, raffle, jewelry (made by me and a few friends). We raised $2500.00 this year and it was our first time. It will be an annual thing. The hair goes to Locks for love, and the proceeds go to our local Cancer Society. We hope to have a BBQ this coming year and many more prizes.
