Creative Questions to Jump Start Your Business

July 3, 2013 by Maggie

Are you feeling bored or uninspired? Do you feel like your creative  business needs something but you aren’t quite sure what it is?

It’s a bit easier if you have a group of people (staff, friends, business connections, a network etc) to brainstorm with but many creative business owners work solo and that makes brainstorming a little more difficult. But not impossible.

Here are some creative questions you can ask yourself about your business that might jump start some creative ideas or goals.

The best part is that no one can shoot down your ideas but you!

What do you LOVE? What is your passion?

What is the most important challenge facing my business right now?

What can I learn from my competitors and how can I outperform them?

What am I doing to market my business? What is working? What isn’t?

How can I help potential customers find me more easily?

What do my customers want?

How can I make my business stand out from the crowd?

How is my customer service and how can I improve it?

Do I have an artist statement?

Does my business plan need to be re-done?

How could I increase my exposure in the least expensive way?

What new products might my customers like?

Can I improve the way I deliver my products?

Can I improve packaging?

Do I have a business plan?

Do I keep a business journal?

What problems can/does my business solve?

Who are my IDEAL customers?

Do I need to look at changing the prices of my items?

Can I do different/more art and craft shows?

What is my style?

Who is my tribe?

What feeling do my goods have?

What would I like my business to look like in 5, 10 or 15 years?

What are the end goals of having my own business?

What do I love about running my own business?

Can I find less expensive supplies?

What business people do I look up to? What can I learn from them?

Who would I LOVE to have as a mentor if money and geography were no issue? Why?

What feeling do I want people to have when they come into contact with me, my business or my shop?

How can I share my love for what I do with others?

What one thing can I do tomorrow that I’ve never done before?

Do any of these questions spark new ideas? What questions would you add?
