Have you heard? The times, they are a-changin’.
For those social media savvy crafters and bloggers who are already in the know, this might be old news for you. But for those of you who haven’t heard yet – there is a major update coming to Instagram. And it might not be picture perfect.
Basically, Instagram is rolling out a new algorithm that will change the way posts are displayed to users. Instead of displaying posts in chronological order, Instagram will now be displaying posts in order of what they think users would like to see. This is very similar to the way Facebook displays posts in users’ news-feeds.
Now for the real question: is this update good or bad? Well, from a small business angle, this update might not be the news you want to hear. If you are a crafter or blogger that regularly uses Instagram to promote your products, then there is a chance that your posts might not be displayed in your followers’ feeds anymore. And without your new products showing up in users’ feeds, your followers would have to go directly to your Instagram page to view your newest material.
So…what do you think? Has Instagram just made it harder for small business owners?

Hi,
I heard about this and I’m really worried that my post’s to instagram will be a waste of my time. I just started getting into instagram about a year ago and I really love it, I didn’t think I would as much as I do. It’s sad but for me instagram might slowly become a thing of the past.
This is not what I would I need for my business. I regularly post new products and images of my work daily. This allows others that see my page to shop for upcoming holidays and special occasions. Changing the way the post are displayed could drastically affect my business. Not happy about this.
Does anyone know if there will be an option to sort by most recent like on FB?
This is a grand idea. To have them turn on notifications, especially when you re sharing good content and don t want them to miss out. Though the changes seem like they could hinder small businesses, it could actually be helpful when it comes to reaching and knowing your target audience. It will exciting to see how this plays out.
You know I don’t care much how Instagram changes because I use zen-promo.com to gain my audience and keep being in business. With this app I always can find customers and they like my stuff because it search among people with interests in sphere I work. Very useful tool for small and local businesses.
