If you’ve been blogging for a while, or even just a little while, you must have hit a blogging slump at some point or another. It happens to the best, most enthusiastic, and impassioned of us. Doing the same thing every day can be taxing, no matter how much you love doing it. Don’t think that this makes you a bad blogger, it’s completely natural!
So what can you do when you’ve hit that blogging slump? You’ve got to change something up, freshen up your game plan. I find that for me what helps most often is stepping away from everything for a while and getting back to the things that started me blogging in the first place. I know that sounds so basic, but that’s because it is! When you’re running a crafty business, writing a blog, and keeping your family sane it can get really difficult to keep in touch with those things that inspired you to blog in the first place. For example, in between all my hobbies and various jobs I hardly ever have time to window shop or read fashion magazines anymore and those were the things that inspired be to kickstart my blog. It’s easy to forget that little things when you have so many big things to worry about.
Here are some more tips I found on getting back to loving your blog;
- Do a design refresh.
- Narrow your focus.
- Take off the chains.
- Ship something.
- Change your routine.
- Change how and where you write.
- Read new, not more.
- Who’s your muse?
- Declare victory or failure.
It’s a pretty concise, honest, and hard hitting list of things to really look at when you start hating your blog. Read the full details here.
And don’t worry, like I said, sometimes you will hate your blog. Sometimes you will think it’s the best blog out there. It’s all part of the process. The important part is to keep coming back to it no matter what.
