5 Jaw-Dropping Business Card Designs

November 2, 2015 by CreativeIncome

Business card designs are a fun way for business owners to let their creativity shine! The design possibilities are endless. Before you look at our list of Jaw-Dropping Business Card Designs for some  inspiration, first you should consider one of the basics to designing a business card.

6 Jaw-Dropping Business Card Designs

A major aspect to designing your business card is the finishing. Most cards use a varnish (matte, silk, or gloss) which enhances the look and feel of your business card design. The varnish also helps protect the card from wear and tear. A spot UV (ultraviolet varnishing) can be used to apply a varnish to only certain surfaces on the card. This technique allows for an even wider variety in business card designs and can help highlight certain information on the card. Die cutting is a technique that can be applied to your business card in order to cut the card into different shapes which expands your design limitations from the traditional rectangular shape to anything you can image. It can also be used within the card to cut out shapes or even font.

Foil bloquing is a finishing that adds a metallic appearance to the card where it is applied. It looks especially attractive when used on text or a logo. Folding can be incorporated into a card in an endless number of ways in order to create a unique design (see example 3). This often adds more space for information and is more engaging than the traditional, flat business card design. You can either emboss or deboss a card’s paper as well. Both of these finishes don’t include the use of ink and will create a three dimensional visual effect. This finish is often used to create a patterned background for a card (see example 1). Now that you’re familiar with your basic design options, take a look at these super unique business cards for some great inspiration!
