Well don’t toss those scraps! Finding new and fun ways to use them can be a great way to challenge your creativity and a easy way to save some money. Who knows, maybe you’ll figure out a brand new item to make to sell in your shop just from the scraps. It’s always good to challenge yourself, so why not start here?

If I have scraps of sock yarn, I make stripey sock tops then finish in a solid color. I sometimes cut up scrap yarn to make washable stuffing for toys. One thing that always draws compliments is a large clearn glass like (plastic) container that I filled with small balls of scarp yarn. It’s colorful and makes an interesting display.

I have a lot of scraps, so I use them for latch hook rugs. I make my own patterns, cut the yarn to the right length and make a rug. I have 19 grandchildren and give one rug to each one when they graduate from high school. They seem to love them. Each one is a different design, Indian designs are easiest, with triangles, diamonds and stripes to separate them.

    1. I take cardboard, from a cereal box or simular, cut a slit at top, downwards and wrap scraps and store them, keeps yarn in tack, and doesn’t unwrap like a ball does, easier to store also.

    2) best tip, I crochet boarders around the top of streachie gloves. Using a darn needle 1st, do a whip or blanket stitch around the wrist, then crocheting any favorite stitch, color. These gloves you can get for .50 cents to a $1.50. Excellant gift to go with a scarf, hat or a store bought item.

After making about 30 Afghans \ lap throws for family and friends, I found that I had a lot of miscellaneous colors of yarn left. I ended up knitting different colors together, making multi colored lap throws for our local veterans home.
